Is there anyone good at tracing electrical problems willing to come out to my place and help me figure out an ongoing, intermittent electrical problem with my early 68 bug? She keeps blowing the #10 fuse.... driving me nuts

I was driving her yesterday, just cruising when all of a sudeen she died. Look and sure enough it is the fuse. Normally I can replace it and continue motoring but not this time, it just kept blowing so she gat a ride home courtesy of Blacks Towing....

so... first, I get off steering wheel and turn signal assembly and find a squashed wire from horn assembly but just a ground and no horn anyhow. so nope, not that. Then Cinder and I get the trun signal working correctly, but through the emergency flashers only as turn assembly is not in yet... then we go get propane.... then we get back and I figure out how to wire up the new turn singal sinc eit has a few different wires...
all is good, turn signals working right. we sart her up, ran for a while, fuse started smoking, turn signal on driver side went out, tehn it blew the fuse
I pull the emergency flasher relay and clean it, blows fuse
I put if back in tight and all is fine, till I turn on turn signals... pass side works, drivers side nothiing but the oil, gen and turn signal indicators flash
then it blows the fuse
I am at my wits end, no hot wires, no frayed ones I can find anywhere.... ugh I seriously need help, she is my only car

Well, new relays and such on the way from Wolfsburgs today.... we will see if they make a difference. Ready to put in 25 amp fuses and find the melting wire..... ugh LOL

New terminal and relays, replacing whatever wires I can as I go.... slow project for a daily driver... lol

I don't now if you have done this but have you tried disconnecting everything in that circuit and connecting one at a time until you the fuse blows?? It can't be that difficult to figure out. You can also disconnect everything from the fuse and check continuity to ground until you find the wire that is shorted.
I'm pretty good with wires.. Give me (619)254-1302 a call and I might be able to stop by, if you are close by. Otherwise I can ask you some quetions to see if we can't figure this out over the phone.

Hey, thanks Art , I will see if I can do that but given it is the ignition fuse blowing, not sure I can as everything is connected to is is seems... LOL
I havent worked on her much... too darn cold out and/or just not enough hours in the day....

I have a tow bar if needed...just two pins to hook it up and you're off.

LOL thanks.. but I would need something to tow it iwith.. LOL it is in the garage so fine. and I am getting a tow bar this weekend; it comes with the ghia. But I really do appreciate the gesture! =])

Hey Art, I tried to give you a ring, just a few ago; long day working on her. I got some wores replaced, relays and the fuse box too. No fuses blown ( yet) but I still need to replace the flasher relay as I got wrong one from wolfsburg west so sent that one back and waiting for htem to mail out right one. and I have a confusion over my headlights. When I replaced that relay, it siad to use this jumper they included and already had on. I did and I had no headlights, only parking lights. ( jumper was from 56 to 30, withthe black white wire to be on the 30 even though it is on 56 on the headlight switch) so, I try just putting the wire directly on the 56 and no jumper; I got headlights but they are stuck in high beam. I had replaced the turn signal switch, put the holes do notline up right as I can only get 3 of the four screws in.... top right one refuses. I have another brand new turn signal assembly from wolfsberg, thinking of pulling the other new one out and trying it to see if that fixes the isses and then hopefully gives me back my highbeam/ low beam swtich.

any thoughts?
