well here it is...... I just replaced the shift rod bushing and now it shift into reverse with pushing down. what the hell did i do wrong?? anyone know??

When I had that problem Brian checked it out for me and it was my shift rod coupler. The rubber around it was falling apart. I still have not fixed it : ( but I have the part I just gotta get a hold of a wrench again lol!

Just a thought cause you may have already checked you coupler. Good luck!!!

yep. I replaced that when I replaced the tranny. Just call Joe @ Joe's off road and he said that I need to move the shifter toward the driver about a 1/16th of an inch. Who knew so little could make such a difference. Will post again if that works. Thanks. Now to figure out the oil light problem............................

Well I did what he said and I still have the same problem. Not looking forward to switching out the 1600 for my 1200. The shifting I will have to deal with for now until I can afford to take it to Back's auto. Thanks for all the support and help.

Did you try flipping the plate under the actual shifter? I had what sounds like the same problem with my 71 super. I put the plate in backwards, then had a screaming fit! When I put it in correctly it was like a whole new tranny

I look at my idiots guide and put it in the same way was pictured. I have no idea what the hell is going on. It did fine until I replaced the bushing except for the fact that it would go into first and downshift into second. I'll try anything at this piont. I wanted to go to the meet this weekend but this thing is preventing me from even enjoying it. Anyone have a relaible car or mini van that seats about 7 that they want to trade?
