Questions about Automatic Bus. I may be buying on Print this page Click this button to create a PDF document from this thread (opens in a new window).
Anyone here ever deal with work on an automatic bus? Any changes in dropping the
engine or putting it back in. How difficult to work on. Any things I should be concerned
or double check? Never worked on an automatic. I may be buying a 75 automatic that
I have found. Currently engine not running, so I may have to pull it out to fix. Anything
I should know before I commit for the long haul? Any issued to watch out for?www.herrkooled.com/components/com_kunena...moticons/shocked.png

As what to watch out for in an auto bus, their accelerator cable/linkage is quite wierd, make sure not to lose any of it and remember how it goes back together or it won't shift right, Also I have seen in the past with auto buses the alternator harness is longer to accomodate the distance of where the starter sits in comparison to the manual trans. its just a few inches difference but can make a difference. also if the bus won't crank over you may try messing with the switch in the shifter box, I forget the name of the switch but its a safety so you can't start it in gear. common for this to be an issue with not starting. other than that auto buses kick a$$. if this bus has been siting for some time when you get it running drive it in reverse for quite sometime, or just jack it up and let it run in reverse, it pumps the trans fluid backwards and gets the seals re-lubed (so I have been told) its works for a friend many times!
